MiniMyth rel-0.17beta1

Post by lmatter »

I am announcing the availability of MiniMyth-0.17beta1.

This release is a complete rewrite of MiniMyth done by our forum member pablo. It is built completely from gar.

It has many upgrades over MiniMyth-0.5.1:
Linux Kernel 2.6.10
drm
Unichrome
MythTV 0.17, plus many add-ons.
and a bunch more.

Please report any problems in the bug system. Any questions about using it may be posted here. The previous minimyth-gar thread will be locked.

and there was much rejoicing. More fan-fare to follow, I just want to get the word out quickly.

Thanks Pablo!

I hope this is the right place to ask this, but:
I'm trying to build the gar-minimyth (latest checkout from perforce), but I'm running into the following error (end of output only):

I'm trying to build on SuSE 9.2 Professional - I don't know if that makes any difference, I've only seen reports about building on Debian and Fedora.

Cheers,
Kev.

Do you have flex installed?

By the way, if you find a problem such as this, you can file a bug report at http://linpvr.org/bugs/.

Thanks for that - I didn't have flex installed. I installed it and got a lot further, but I still have build issues. I will report them on the bug tracker.

The reason I posted it here rather than the bug list, was that I figured I was doing something wrong instead of it being a bug. I'll stick with the bug list in future :)

If you are not able to build it because you are doing something wrong, then there is at least a documentation bug. For instance., the README should list flex as something to have installed on your system.

$ ping perforce.linpvr.org
PING perforce.linpvr.org (66.1.150.141) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- perforce.linpvr.org ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2998ms

Is perforce up?

It is up right now (I am using it). However, it does not respond to ping.

I haven't tried the build yet, but i have been VERY happy with my previous version of MiniMythTV. Thanks so much for you hard work, Larry. Thanks also to the all the other forum members that contribute so much to projects like these. Yall do some of the things that i just don't have the ability to do. Please keep up the great work; it is very much appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoy it. I'll think you'll be pleased with the gar version as well.

Hi,

i tried the new version since i loved 0.15.1.

After trying to start X, X complains "Cannot open device /dev/input/mice"

Well, i don't have a mouse on my frontend. Do i have to compile the version with all the perforce things or is there another solution for my problem?

I don't have a mouse on my frontend either so I don't think that is the cause.

Uncomment and set MM_LOGFILE to /tmp/something in the minimyth.conf file (in your <PXEROOT>/conf directory) and look for other error messages (please don't post the whole log though).

hauppauge remote

Post by bigA »

Hi all,

just got the GAR beta build up and running, great job!!!

I did have problems and tracked it down to downloading the kernel and rootfs through the browser. I used wget and then had no problems.

I am trying to figure out how to get my hauppauge remote working with no luck.

Larry did you get yours going with the hauppauge remote?

Still working on it, but I think the answer is this:

put lircd.conf and lircrc in <PXEroot>/conf

Edit minimyth.conf and specify:
MM_LIRC_DRIVER=serial
MM_LIRC_DEVICE=/dev/lirc0
MM_LIRC_KERNEL_MODULE=lirc_serial
MM_LIRC_KERNEL_MODULE_OPTIONS="type=0 irq=3 io=0x02f8"

But I didn't get time to try it this morning. Let me know!
