Yes, i am waiting for the issue with LIRC not getting the pinsys driver correctly as mentioned above. At the moment i always have to start my second PC so that i can change the lirc startup script on the minimyth machine - this is a little bit "inconvenient"
I have checked with a browser and the patch.gar file does indeed not exist at either of the URLs (and strangely enough when I hit the linpvr URL with firefox it redirects me to microsoft.com! but I found another way to check it). Does anyone know where this file really exists? Google is no help on this one.
I have a dumb question - where are the beta downloads? I went to download the latest minimyth-0.19, and the link in the thread failed. So, I have downloaded 0.19.0.1 from dnload/releases. Is this the valid link, and the latest build to download? Oddly I looked around and did not see anything else.
By the way, I have been running 0.17.0.0beta1 for about a year now, with great success. I cannot watch regular TV anymore! Thanks so much for all the great work! Even my wife is hooked...

0.19.0.1 is the latest release. I removed the betas for 0.19.0.1 since I posted 0.19.0.1.

I am glad that it is working for you.
Man I feel silly, I read that quote as there was a problem with watching live tv through myth 0.17
Whoops, I guess that was a little unclear. Yes, Pablo read it right - I hate watching regular (non PVR) TV now, I depend upon Myth/Minimyth. Thanks again
I just loaded 0.19-12 on my SP8000e and it plays SDTV great, but it has a few issues with HDTV:
1.) No video, either using the VGA output only, or the S-Video output, or the VGA + S-Vid. Gives me a sort of blueish screen.
2.) AC3/DTS passthrough doesn't seem to work. I even loaded my own known-good asoundrc from my other HDTV system (nvidia + Turtle Beach Riviera), and it still wouldn't work. I just get popping. non-passthrough SPDIF works fine though.
At the moment, I'm more concerned about #1, because I've seen reports that HDTV does indeed work with this board, and I'm really itching to see if the playback is any better than my nvidia 5200. Any ideas?
Still struggling with this one. I can even play back a 1080i tennis clip using mythvideo and xine perfectly (minus the sound), but I still can't get any HDTV output inside myth's internal player.
I've tried turning off Bob deint, making sure the s-vid is completely disabled and no s-vid cable is attached at boot or after boot, I turned on Myth 0.19's Color OSD (successfully in SDTV), I tried playing with audio settings, etc. No change.
Since it works in Xine, I'm wondering if mythfrontend's ffmpeg somehow wasn't built with HDTV support or something. I can't think of what setting that would be though...

In the past, I have had problems playing higher resolution HDTV with MythTV while Xine would play them fine. However, I have not tested it in some time since my SP8000E is connected to a SDTV at the moment (I am using my ASUS with my HDTV). I will add Ivor's patch and post a test version when the build is done.
I never used AC3/DTS passthrough with the VIA board. However, it works with my ASUS motherboard using MiniMyth's /etc/asound.conf file. I wonder if something else needs to be enabled using 'amixer'. When I get a chance, I will test AC3/DTS passthrough on my SP8000E.
MiniMyth running on an Acer ApireRevo 3610 and a Zotac ZBOX-ID80-U. Find out more at my MythTV page.
Not sure about the passthrough. It works fine from Xine when playing DVDs. But I still get scary sputter noise when I turn on AC3 passthrough and attempt to playback HDTV in Mythtv. AC3 passthrough with SDTV content (non AC3) works fine. I want to say the AC3 passthrough in MythTV just isn't working properly, but you mentioned that it works on a different board. Odd.
