download in parellel

Post by devan00 »

Is it possible to download the sources files in parallel? These sites are so slow I could easily download from 10 simultaneously without maxing out my download bandwidth.

I am not aware of any way for GAR to download in parallel. However, be sure to run 'make garchive' in the gar-minimyth to save a local copy after they download.

Thanks, that is handy to have a local cache.

One more question... when I type 'make build' does it automatically do parallel execution with make? Or do I need to do 'make -j n build' ?

You should not need to do anything. The build system is configured to parallel build with the number of processors found in /proc/cpuinfo.
