Complete GAR system for download

Post by Spulit »

Hi,

Since the complete GAR system takes ages to download, is it possible to provide the complete system in an image, so we can download it with a download manager?

Thanks

I am not sure what you mean. By the GAR system do you mean all the different source packages that the MiniMyth GAR based build system downloads when you run 'make garchive'?

The GAR build system pulls the tarball from all over the Internet. In addition, the tarballs total something like 1.2GB of code. Therefore, creating a single tarball from all tarballs is not practical.

Anyway, as 'make garchive' should pick up where it left off, I am not sure that having a single tarball containing all tarballs would improve things much.

Well, it would take a lot of server space, of course. However, it would avoid broken URLs problems.

Just a thought but nothing that important... :)

All the best!
