Tracing crashes

Post by Glidos »

My current system crashes in the X server when using xv-blit if the playback involves any scaling. I'm in communication with the xf86-video-ati people and they are asking for a gdb backtrace. Is there any way I can get hold of gdb for minimyth?

I've been considering doing my own builds. If I did so, would that provide a way via which I could add gdb myself?

The MiniMyth build system contains gdb, but it is not included in the default binary version.

If you build it yourself, then you can include gdb by adding debug to mm_SOFTWARE in your $HOME/.minimyth/minimyth.conf.mk file.

In addition, you can keep the debug symbols by adding mm_DEBUG=yes to your $HOME/.minimyth/minimyth.conf.mk. As keeping the debug symbols can make the root file system image very large, be sure that ramdisk_size parameter on your boot line is set to a large enough value.
MiniMyth running on an Acer ApireRevo 3610 and a Zotac ZBOX-ID80-U. Find out more at my MythTV page.

Great. Thanks Pablo.

I have a build underway now. Who knows what will come out the other side. :-)
