Personally I have to encode all my media to a format all of my other players can use, therefore I've not touched an external player in years.

I agree that. But I am still using 0.24, so this does not concern me. Has mythtv 0.25 still option for alternative player? If so, mplayer is good to be configured there for "backup".guitarist wrote:Up 'till a week ago, I was using 0.23, and in there, the internal player didn't appear to support HW acceleration, isos, or subtitles. With my recent upgrade to 0.25, those issues have been fixed, and so I haven't needed to use mplayer like I did in 0.23. That said, it would be good to have mplayer around as an "emergency backup" for that rare occasion that the internal player croaked on something.
0.24 lacks some dvd images, so I use xine for that.
Never used vlc.
